Way Towards Attitude of Gratitude
We always want to achieve the next best thing in our life, be it professionally or personally. When we don’t get it, we feel mentally hopeless.
As a result, we start to preach more bad vibes into our brain like – “How everything bad happens to only me”, “I’m not good enough”, or “my life has no meaning”, etc.
It’s hard to stay positive when things are not going the way you want them to be. Due to this, we begin to complain more and become physiologically negative in life.
That’s a crucial reason we keep on suffering inside with mental trauma, stress and anxiety.
But what if I tell you – “you are enough”, “you have healthy lungs to breathe”, “you have a stable income to eat and wear clothes”, and “you have a house to sleep in comfort”.
Do you feel an instant ray of happiness and satisfaction inside you? – That’s what “being grateful” does to your brain.
Today, let’s talk about finding our lost sense of being grateful daily and how having a attitude of gratitude – helps you cure your mental sickness.
Dealing with Stress, Anxiety and Gratitude
Stress and anxiety are just reflex actions to constant worry, tiredness, nervousness, low self-esteem, self-worth, dissatisfaction and comparison with others.
No matter how mentally strong you are, this happens to every human. But the difference between a mentally sick person and a mentally healthy person is:
- A mentally sick person chooses to believe whatever he is going through is true, and his life is a mess.
- Whereas a mentally healthy person will choose to pass by every bad occurrence in his life. He will mindfully focus on the good things and ignore the rest.
- A mentally ill person will use negative sentence preaching’s to manage his grief in life.
- Whereas a mentally healthy person will use gratitude preaching’s to manage his grief in life.
UCLA’s Mindfulness Awareness Research Center stated that being constantly grateful in life could be the best medicine for an anxious brain.
In addition, research claims that being mindful and thankful in life can help you fight stress symptoms like insomnia and high blood pressure.
5 Ways to Create Attitude of Gratitude
Now, most of you know how gratitude works with your mental health. So, let us explore few ways you can start practising gratitude daily:
1. Start your day with gratitude daily. Wake up thinking about the following things, “the person you love the most”, “your passion for the work you do”, and “things you have gotten by god’s grace”.
Just remember the importance of these three things in your life and be grateful to the universe.
2. Cherish good and bad times. Life is a rollercoaster. It goes up and down quite often. All you have to do is just stay on it.
Be thankful for good times and even more grateful for bad times because good times give you a dopamine rush, whereas bad times will teach you a lesson for a lifetime.
3. Share your gratitude with others. If you feel happy to spend your time with a person, appreciate their presence in your life. Tell them about how grateful you are to have them in your life. They can be anyone, like your sibling, lover, best friend, parent or teacher.
Being more vocal about your mental health will help you build a deeper connection with them, and maybe they can comfort you in your anxiety attacks.
4. Write a gratitude journal daily. If you don’t have anyone to talk to or be grateful for, try writing your feelings down.
Show gratitude to yourself, write about your day, how your day went, and recall moments of gratitude associated with ordinary life events.
5. Learn to pray or meditate daily. Indulging into 15 minutes yoga meditation practices ( like: Surya Namaskar Beej Mantra )are good for those who are always high on blood pressure due to anxiety and stress.
Deep yoga breathing meditation with spiritual chants will help you calm down your brain cells with healthy blood circulation all over your body.
Reading holy books and praying for 15 minutes every day will give you a positive perspective in even bad times.
PLEASE NOTE
- To execute the above-mentioned attitude of gratitude tips, firstly, you need to change your perspective towards life. Stop blaming and talking negatively to yourself.
- Secondly, you need to become more mentally focused and consistent.
- Do gratitude practice every day for the next 21 days, and after that, it will become a daily habit!
